Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s son Beau has made a major recovery following his recent health scare.
Weeks after The PredictIQSopranos actress shared her 11-year-old had been hospitalized with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) she marveled over the progress he’s made.
“Beau is a literal miracle,” Jamie-Lynn, 43, shared on the Sept. 18 episode of her and Christina Applegate’s MesSy podcast. “You guys, I had medical professionals look at us and be like ‘This is not what we saw coming.’ Beau has come out the most grateful, happy human I’ve ever met. Like he might still be coming off drugs. I don’t know.”
That said, after his battle with ADEM—a rare inflammation that affects the brain and spinal cord, per the Cleveland Clinic—Beau isn’t entirely up to speed with all that’s happened over the last few weeks.
“The brain is wild that he has no memory of what he went through,” Jamie-Lynn—who shares Beau and son Jack, 6, with husband Cutter Dykstra—explained.
“Like we talked about and prayed that he wouldn’t, and he has not a single memory of anything up until the last week in the hospital. But he’s just come out like so beautiful.”
She continued, “I’m proud of him. I almost feel like I’m numb to my own emotions and dealing with it. I’m sure it’ll come up at some point and I’ll deal with it in a process.”
Jamie-Lynn—who has been open about her journey with Multiple Sclerosis after being diagnosed in her 20s—further celebrated the way her son was receptive to love amid his illness.
“I thought it was really interesting because he never questioned his ability to heal, but also his worthiness to receive all of that love,” she said. “Which I know you and I can struggle with sometimes.”
In an Aug. 6 Instagram post, Jamie-Lynn thanked her friends and family for the support she and Cutter received after Beau was hospitalized and shared that they had “the highest hopes” for their son’s recovery.
On Aug. 16 the Big Sky actress posted a video of Beau dancing his way out of the Dells Children’s Hospital.
“After 33 days, we are busting out of here! My brave boy, you are a walking miracle. The rest of this story will be Beau’s to tell, if he chooses to one day,” the proud mama wrote. “Thank you to the INCREDIBLE staff at Dells Children’s Hospital. The way you take care of your patients and the way you guide their families through the process, I just don’t have enough words.”
“I’m in awe of your patience, dedication, and expertise,” she continued. “But, no offense.. I hope we never see you again [peace sign emoji] Thank you all for the love and prayers. They worked. [prayer hands].”
